AW-NRG
Who We Are

AW-NRG Insulation Services, Inc. was founded in May 2010. It is the amalgamation of Aarc-West Mechanical based out of British Columbia since 1994 and NRG Insulation Ltd. that was based in Calgary, Alberta since 2008.

The management team at Aarc-West has extensive years of industry experience in all facets of the mechanical insulation industry as owners, project managers, estimators and field applicators. The principals of Aarc-West also take an active, day-to-day role in the business and continue to maintain a hands-on approach with the management of both companies. This allows them to help develop AW-NRG Insulation Services and use the economies of scale available to them to have a highly efficient and effective organization to meet customers’ needs and expectations throughout Western Canada.

From day one, AW-NRG has fostered strong corporate loyalty. Their employees are encouraged to think on their feet and are empowered to make their own decisions on the job. This approach is backed by strong supervisory and office support with up-to-date policies and systems. This allows us to react very quickly to our customers’ various needs and provide the exemplary service our customers have become accustomed to.

Attention to Detail

Mechanical insulation is primarily used to limit heat gain or loss from surfaces operating at temperatures above or below ambient temperature. At AW-NRG we take this one step further and look at the design objectives and considerations when we source our material and determine our installation processes. These can include: Condensation control, Energy conservation, Fire safety, Freeze protection, Personnel protection, Process control and Noise control. Considerations include: Abuse resistance, Corrosion under insulation, Indoor Air Quality, Maintainability, Regulatory Considerations, Service and Location and Service Life.

By consciously spending the time upfront and investing heavily in project start-up we minimize the re-work and service calls and are able to complete our work on-time, on-budget and as specified. We identify and plan to deal with any issues associated with the location. The efficient handling, movement and storage of materials and personnel will be important and planning will be required. In some cases, this may involve providing lifts or specialized job-site vehicles. A clean, dry, and secure storage area for materials and equipment must also be identified.

Design- Build Services

Using the knowledge and experience of our staff we have been involved in design-build projects in conjunction with a design team as required by our customers.

There are a wide variety of insulation materials, facings, and accessory products available for use on mechanical systems. The list changes continuously as existing products are modified, new products are developed, and other products are phased out. As a Design-Build consultant our task is to select the products or combination of products that will satisfy the design requirements at the lowest total cost over the life of the project. This task is not easy. In most cases, as the designer, we find there are a number of products or systems that will work, and the final choice will depend on cost, availability, or other considerations such as ease of use.

Some categories of insulation material we would consider are cellular, fibrous, flake, granular and reflective. Some of the physical properties of the insulation material we would consider are use temperature, thermal conductivity, density, specific heat, thermal diffusivity, alkalinity of pH, comprehensive resistance, flexural resistance, linear shrinkage, water vapour permeability, water absorption, water vapour sorption and wicking.
